Blake Shelton has been keeping busy between seasons of The Voice. He has released another duet called “Hell Right.” He talked about the meaning behind the duet and how it fits into this part of his career.

Blake Shelton previously released ‘Dive Bar’ with Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks started off the summer by releasing “Dive Bar” with Blake Shelton. They got together because Brooks loved his performance of “God’s Country.”

“I was watching the ACMs this year, and there was one performance that really hit me hard: Blake Shelton’s ‘God’s Country.’ I thought, ‘I’m feeling something here that’s drawing me right into this television.’ So I just reached out for him,” Brooks told Billboard.

They have since had fun performing the party song together. Shelton admitted that Brooks has a new nickname for him that has to do with his girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.

“I got a text from my man here earlier that said, ‘Hey, man, we got your dressing room set up for you,'” Shelton said on stage according to Entertainment Tonight. “And he sent me a picture and it was a paper that said ‘Mr. Stefani’ on it.”

We will probably be seeing him share the stage with someone else again. Now he’s back with a new duet that is closely related to his previous song.

His new duet is with Trace Adkins

The country singer is back with another duet. This time it is with Trace Adkins.

“I wanted him on this record because I knew there was a story to this song, but there was also a personality to the story that he could help amplify and take it to the next level,” he said according to Tennessean.

According to Taste of Country he also praised Adkins saying, “The guy’s got so much personality in his voice and the way he sings, and I still think he’s one of the most underrated vocalists out there.”

The new song is about raising hell

Shelton talked about how the new song is related to a popular phrase. “You can go about it two ways,” he said. “You can raise hell, or you can raise hell right. To me, that means you can set off a bottle rocket, or you can have a fireworks show. There’s always a next level of things.”

He said that he considers the new song to be a cousin to “God’s Country.” The coach opened up about this point in his career.

“At this point in my life and my career, I’m just making records I want to make with no apologies, with no rhyme or reason, and I’ve been making them with the people I want to make them with,” he said. “I’m just doing what I want to do. I’m not chasing anything. I’m still singing to the people who are somewhere between Los Angeles and New York City, and hopefully, the people in those metropolises can relate to my music, too.”

It sounds like Shelton has been having a good time creating new duets. All of this is before season 17 of The Voice.
