Eddie Murphy has been “taken” since 2012 when he and Paige Butcher went public. The pair first met while working together on 2006’s Big Momma’s House 2. Six years later, Murphy and Butcher began a romantic partnership that’s gone on to produce two children: a daughter, Izzy, and a son, Max. The couple has never publicly tied the knot. But several recent clues indicate that the Coming to America star and his longtime love are married.

Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher make rare red carpet appearance together

Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher made a rare appearance on the red carpet together at the premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. Three of his daughters, Bria (34), Shayne (29), and Bella (22), joined them for family photos, looking equally glamorous and excited to support their father.

Butcher looked ravishing in a red strapless midi dress, black heels, and diamond jewelry. The 44-year-old Australian actor’s biggest sparkler was her diamond engagement ring, of course. In 2018, the couple got engaged, further solidifying their connection and long-term commitment to each other.

Both Murphy and Butcher wear rings on their left ring fingers. The Norbit star has been spotted wearing this large ring on the red carpet many times. Butcher’s engagement ring is a split-shank, silver-toned white diamond solitaire, according to Diamonds-USA. Assessed to be no less than six carats, its value is estimated to be over $1 million.

On June 29, The New York Times published an episode of its The Interview podcast featuring Murphy. Not only did The Nutty Professor star pull back the curtain on his everyday life with Butcher, but he also alluded to his “wife” twice.

Eddie Murphy calls Butcher his ‘wife’ in recent interview

During the podcast, Murphy explained, “I used to be so hip, I used to know who everybody was, and now there’s just so much stuff. I ask my wife, ‘Who’s this person?'” Later, the 63-year-old discussed his favorite TV shows. “I watch every night at six o’clock when I eat dinner, watch Steve Harvey and Family Feud, and on Tuesdays I watch The Masked Singer. My wife and I, we watch all those shows with singing competitions and that kind of stuff.”

Although the couple has not commented on Murphy’s “wife” statements, it’s easy to see why they’d marry after 12 years together. The pair has built a life together complete with children and own a home in Beverly Hills together.

Murphy was previously married to Nicole Mitchell (Bria, Shayne, and Bella’s mom) from 1993 to 2005 and to Tracey Edmonds for two weeks in 2008.
