Married to Medicine: Los Angeles concluded its second season this past summer and introduced two new doctors into the fold. Viewers also got see cast members from the show’s original Atlanta predecessor appear and stir things up among Jazmin Johnson, Dr. Imani Walker, Dr. Britten Cole, and the other ladies.
Now, it seems like things have taken a turn and the Bravo reality series may not be back for season 3.
‘Married to Medicine: LA’ had some ratings struggles
Much of season 2 of M2M LA focused on the whereabouts of Walker’s husband, Jazmin’s friction with the group (and her husband’s whereabouts), each cast member’s marital issues. There was some cattiness going on within the group, with Shanique Drummond and Lia Dias locked in a feud, and Johnson being shady about Walker’s marriage.
Even though there was drama within the circle and some notable moments in each cast member’s marriages, the show couldn’t reach the same ratings peak as other Bravo hits, including Atlanta’s Married to Medicine.
Some fans even believed OG cast members were flown out to Los Angeles to help garner attention for the spinoff this year.
Bravo rumored to be canceling the show
In November, Screen Rant reported Bravo is allegedly seeking to chop Married to Medicine LA from the lineup. According to the outlet, the show was set to begin production on season 3 in September but things were placed on hold due to the pandemic.
As a side note, the series completed most of its filming for season 2 before COVID-19 lockdowns went into effect and only had to shoot confessionals and extra footage afterward. With that in mind, cast members had some experience working under a level of new protocols in the wake of quarantine.
However, fast forward to November, and sources told Screen Rant that the show still hadn’t resumed production. Instead, there was talk of a cancellation. Per the source, “No warning. No communication. No coaching,” is all that happened.
Bravo and M2M LA cast members have largely been silent on the matter and haven’t provided an official confirmation, but some think it’s just a matter of time. Per Urban Belle, Dias expressed her disbelief at Bravo renewing Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s Don’t Be Tardy but not doing the same for her show.
In contrast, one of Bravo’s newest additions, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, just premiered on Nov. 11 and has already received the green light for season 2.
Meanwhile, ‘Married to Medicine’ Atlanta crew is filming
No firm production announcements have been shared for the Atlanta version of Married to Medicine have been shared, but season 8 is on the way. According to Bravo’s Daily Dish, the upcoming installment will feature the cast attending the March on Washington 2020 and their participation in COVID-19 testing efforts.
Since several cast members and their spouses are physicians, they joined a call to action to administer tests throughout the state of Georgia. Dr. Heavenly Kimes shared some photos on her Instagram account, but fans will get to see the footage when the series returns sometime in 2021.
